The Most Unlikely

In recognition of National Human Trafficking Awareness month, SW WA Center for the Arts presented a timely and relevant multimedia arts event in partnership with Jason Page (founder of the non-profit The Unlikely Mission). Each painting on exhibit represented an actual individual story of human trafficking in America. Jason and others shared these thought-provoking stories, followed by a Q & A session. The installation piece illustrated the timeline of a decade’s worth of work, and the artifacts on display were those used during reconnaissance and rescue operations. Jason is currently working with director/producer Christina Zorich (daughter of actress Olympia Dukakis), and HBO to produce the documentary film, “Knock: Peering into Human Trafficking’s Many Rooms.” Guests got an exclusive screening of the trailer for this film and had an opportunity to talk with Jason about this important work. Christina was the Executive Producer and Director of the award-winning documentary, “The New Abolitionists,” which shines a spotlight on the human sex trafficking industry in Southeast Asia. The film garnered a whopping 41 wins and 25 nominations worldwide. This event was covered on both KOIN6 and KATU news.

Jason has spent over a decade working on the front lines fighting against human trafficking. The close encounters and unique circumstances in his story offer a rare glimpse into the lives of the people, practices, and culture of modern-day slavery in America. He founded and operates an anti-human trafficking non-profit called The Unlikely Mission. As a featured speaker and conference panelist Jason’s dynamic perspective offers a direct and yet inspiring honesty in the prevention, treatment, and ultimate eradication of one of the greatest tragedies in human history. His international experiences include projects in places like Mexico, Russia, Brazil, Turkey, Colombia, Thailand, and Myanmar (Burma). He is the creator of a series of media tools and writing resources designed to help educators, community influencers and ministry leaders respond to this crisis effectively.
